Traditional Slovak Carnival Pastries
God's grace or the fánky. They are traditionally associated with the pre-Easter carnival season. I have an excellent recipe and today we can prepare them together. I need 13 heaped spoons of semi-coarse flour for the dough. Add ⅓ teaspoon of salt to the flour.
Method
-
Add 250 ml of 33% whipping cream and 3 large egg yolks. We will make a smooth dough. Knead the dough on a floured board. Shape the loaf and immediately roll it out. Fold the rolled out dough in the same way as puff pastry. Roll out the folded dough again. We repeat the rolling and folding process twice. Cut the rolled out dough into squares or rectangles.
-
If we want soft and fluffy fánky, we don't cut them in the middle. If we cut the fánky, they will be fragile and crunchy. So we can choose. Pour enough oil into the higher saucepan so that the fánky float in it. Prepare vanilla or vanillin sugar for coating. Fry the fánky in heated oil until golden. Turn the fánky carefully so they don't crack. Let the fried fánky drain on a paper napkin.
-
Roll the warm fánky in vanilla sugar. The recipe is very good and no other can match it.
